Gramma, 

You've been gone for 3 months now, but I know that you're watching over all of your beautiful loved ones each and every day.  I've read that those that succumb to Alzheimer's leave the disease here on earth.  That when you get to heaven, you live on there as your were before the disease took over your life.  I find peace in this belief, because that is how I remember you... full of life.  Your smile lit up every room that you walked into.  Your laugh, endless energy & love was inspirational to say the least.  I am sad to say that distance made it difficult for us to spend as much time together as I would have liked, but the memories of the time that we did get to spend together are great ones.  I'll never forget how "crazy" I thought it was that your "teeth came out at night" or you scent... I can still smell it... I don't know how to describe it, but it was unique & O could always still smell ya for a few days after you left!  (Don't worry, it's not a bad smell!).  I'll always remember you with a hammer or a paint brush in one hand & a cigarette in the other!  I think I get my work ethic from you... You were always a "do-it-yourself"er... I'm the same way & I hope my daughter will follow in your footsteps as well.  I remember getting so excited when mom would tell us that you guys were coming to visit!  I always had a countdown on my calendar & would get so excited when I saw your big ole camper trucking down the street!  I knew you would come with lots of carmel candies & a box of presents!  I, like you, enjoy getting everyone together.  I remember having the whole family over whenever you came to visit & staying up way later that usual having some fun conversations at the table.  You were blessed with a beautiful family & we were all blessed with you.  I wish that you could have met your great grand daughter, Adelyn.  You wouldn't have been able to get enough of her!  She has your bright blue eyes & surely lights up a room!  You would have been so proud to see your daughter as a grandmother... she's amazing with Adelyn!  One of my favorite things about you was your calm demeanor.  I'll never forget the day that you called to tell us that you "got yourself the Alzheimer's"... I know that you were fully aware of what was in store for you, but instead of dwelling on it, you made light of it.  I know that you endured more pain than anyone ever should ever have to in the last years of your life, & it is my wish for you that all of that pain is gone & that you are enjoying your eternal life in a beautiful sea of colors to match your beautiful soul.  Rest peacefully Gramma.  I love you.

I will always miss moms morning phone calls. She would call every morning after the boys left for school. We would talk about her latest project, decorating and family. Still, there is so much more I needed to say. The distance didn't stop us from being close and keeping in touch. My boys, Kevin, Dave, and Jeff adored their Grandma in Louisiana. Love and miss you mom.

MEMORIES OF MY MAW MAW  I loved going to my maw maw's house. We would go over there and spend the night on the weekends, we would have so much fun she would let us stay up late and watch T.V. yay! She would always make sure she had our favorite movies at her house. Some of the fondest memories are when she took me, Amy and Sarah swimming at her friends house Glenda. She actually got in the pool with us and maw maw didn't like water, but for us she did it! I miss her and will always remember her beautiful smile and pretty blue eyes. Everyone says I have her eyes I'm so glad that I do. Another good memory is when she was in the middle of working a puzzle I would love to go over there and help her finish putting them together. I LOVE YOU MAW MAW, I'm sad that your gone but glad that your not in anymore pain.

My best memories of Judy were of her fondness for carpentry. She did not mind getting her hands dirty if it was to put in a window make a shadow box saw, cut, paint or whatever the moment required. Being so far away in Michigan was hard to witness all that she did, however when she was up here she did her best to help out. These are my fondest memories of her. I only wish I could have visited with her more. We will all miss a great woman and my only mother-in-law.

Mom... I miss our long talks the most.  You were always there with good advice for me.  You helped me become the person that I am today.  Love and miss you, til we see each other again...

MEMORIES OF MY GREAT GRANNIE, I loved going over there to see her, she liked for me to get in the bed with her and I would massage her feet with lotion. I would give her hugs and kisses all the time. When she was in the bed I would sit in her wheel chair and get Carson to push me around, fun times at great grannies! Me and Carson would take her outside and push her up and down the street in her wheel chair grannie would come with us though. We had an Easter egg hunt outside at her house too , I remember her smiling at me. I wish she could have talked to me, I forgot what she sounds like, I miss you and I love you a bunch,

I love you and miss you! I remember the Easter we were at your house we took you outside in your wheel chair, first we put a hat on you, then me and Kadie we took turns pushing you up and down the street. I miss going over there and playing with all of the toys you had for little kids. One of my favorite stuffed animals was your little puppy Chihuahua dog that you kept on the back of the couch, I think that was everyone's favorite. I Love You

MEMORIES of MY MOM, her eyes and her smile, WOW what a beautiful lady she was! When you look at my mom all through the years of growing up, looking at pictures, videos, and such, she always had a smile on her face and a baby on her lap. That was her joy helping us young mothers with our babies. She loved to let the kids always play in her cabinets taking out pots and pans with lids and a wooden spoon. that was a sure trade mark for my mom or should I say "grandma" all the grandkids loved going to her house, it was a laid back atmosphere where all little kids felt comfortable at. More than her looks being so beautiful she was beautiful on the inside as well! The scripture says it is more blessed to give than to receive, well my mother lived by that scripture you could say, she lived her whole life wanting to do and to give to others. She was a landlord for a short while and she became friends with them and wanted to help them out anyway she could. She was like that with everyone she knew. She would start buying Christmas gifts in the summer she always wanted all the grandkids to have a lot of presents to open that was her joy. She loved to decorate the outside for Christmas, the  more lights the better, it was always for the grandkids.
Going back thinking about my moms character, well  she was a wonderful mother there were times I would cook and bring it over there for us all to eat. Well the next day or so I would talk to her on the phone, I would ask her what ya doing? Her reply to me was "cleaning your Pot" so I in return would get my pot back looking like brand new, yay for me! Well that was my mom you could almost say she was OCD about certain things like cleaning her stove she taught me how to do, she would take screws out and soak them to get grease build up off then put everything back together again, like Brand New another one was my refrigerator, she picked my kids up from school one day for me and when I got home that afternoon she had my refrigerator completely torn apart cleaning every inch." I miss my Mom, I tell you" little things like that she would always help me out. Never expecting anything in return either. She was like that even with my friends, she would want to help out with bringing their kids home from school when they were in need of a ride . One time she watched SIs. Becky's son, Sam when he got sick at school, kept him till she got off work. Works of kindness my mom would do for anybody I'm telling you, she was one of a Kind! I'm going to miss going over there and seeing her sitting in her chair at the table, I called it the Queen Bees Chair, it was the chair at the end of the table that was in the kitchen. Everybody pretty much new not to sit there, it was a given that was where she always sat.
When I think back of growing up, I was in like 7th, 8th, and 9th grade we lived in Michigan on Grandview Street, it was nothing for us to get up around 9:00 at night and go to K-Mart shopping. She would get on a kick to redo the bathroom well we would go and pick out the stuff and in the next couple of days she would have it done. She took after her Dad in the carpentry skills she wasn't afraid to use any kind of tools. There wasn't anything she couldn't do! She taught me how to paint that's for sure. She loved to buy kitchen gadgets she had any and everything you could think of, I am definitely her child because I am just like that, I love to cook! Ivan loved going over there to drink coffee, nobody made coffee as good as my Mom he said. She was excited Josh and Ashley had their first child Carson She loved being a great grannie! She would never miss a birthday party, Her and Robert were always the first ones there. When Kadie was born they were there, she was happy Josh had a boy and girl, now they can quit she said, laughing!  I Love You Mom And Miss You something terrible!

LETTER TO MY MOTHER: Dear Mom, It has been one month since you left us to go be in heaven and I miss you every day. Sometimes I say to someone that I can't believe that you are gone. But, at times, I feel your presence. I'll walk into the kitchen when the house is quiet and for a brief moment feel you there. Are you checking in on us? Are you watching over us? I hope so. I think about how much you suffered but was unable to tell us. Throughout your life you never complained when you were in pain. You endured quietly. There are times that I feel guilty that I didn't pick up on enough clues or signs telling me what you needed. I tried to read your mind. If you had an itch, you couldn't scratch it. If your nose was runny, you couldn't wipe it. You could barely cry. Does any one of us ever stop and imagine living like that every moment of our busy lives. Do we remember to thank God for all our tiny blessings. If we made a list of our small blessings, it would be a very long list. Sometimes I start listing my blessings. I thank God for my bed and pillow and a blanket to warm me when it is cold. I have air conditioning to cool me when it is hot. A toothbrush and toothpaste to brush the teeth that are in my mouth. I have a car to get me places, clothes to wear and food to eat. The list goes on and on. Help me not to forget how blessed I am. I have a brother and sisters that have always been a blessing to me. There are souls in this world that have nothing, the ground is their bed. God loves them just as much as He loves me. We are supposed to thank God for our good time and our trials and look at both as blessings. It is with the trials that we are given the chance to learn the most because that's when we turn to God the most. When everything is good, how easy it is for us to forget to thank God. Mom, you agreed with God to endure suffering so that the people who loved you could learn lessons in giving and loving. Thank you for being a blessing in my life and loving me. And I want to thank you for rocking me in the rocking chair all night long when I was a baby. I love you, your daughter.

My mom was many things to many people, but for me, she was my mom.  I will always love her and remember her. Though she is missed by many, her long fight is over and she is now at peace. Her beautiful smile and bright eyes are shining in Heaven now. I enjoy seeing the memories of other people in her life written on these pages. Thank you to those who have submitted them. As memories go, I fondly remember my mom taking me bowling when I was ten years old. I was on a team with two neighborhood girls, we were called "Three's Company". We came in last in the league. It is one of the best memories of my childhood. Thank you mom. Good night, I'll see you tomorrow.

One of my fondest memories of Maw Maw comes from a few years back when I was still a little girl. My brother Scott, my cousin Sarah, and myself were always at Maw Maw's house. We loved her, her backyard, and of course the famous play room. She always made sure she was up to date on every Disney movie that came out. She knew we would be waiting! This particular memory is one of my favorites though. We all went to Maw Maw's one weekend and we had a little surprise. She had bought each of us a plain white t-shirt, and there was fabric paint on the table. We were looking at each other thinking, "What project is she starting now?". Maw Maw then showed us how we were going to decorate the shirts however we wanted to and get to take them home. It was so much fun because she was right there the whole time doing it with us. After we finished the shirts, we concluded the amazing night with the latest Disney movie out at the time which was Lady and the Tramp. The details are fuzzy, but the main things I specifically remember about that night were laughter, familiarity, love, and warmth. I miss her today, and cannot wait to see her again! She was one heck of a lady, and I only hope I am half the woman she was one day.

MEMORIES OF MY MOM: Letting  baby after baby through the years play on her kitchen floor with pots and pans drug out and a spoon for them to bang them with. --Any baby who ever sat on her lap at the table was just content to sit there. They never had to be entertained. --For someone who didn't like to cook, she made the best fried chicken, chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes and her potato salad was so good that when I worked at Kmart in the last '90s she made potato salad for a luncheon. Local firemen were there and when I went into the breakroom the potato salad was gone and everyone was raving to me about it. I told them my mom made it. --When I was  10 years old she planted some roses in the back yard. One was a red climbing bush by the sliding glass door. I remember it bursting with blooms and I can still smell the fragrance of them.  --She was very close to her dad. He was in  construction and she loved it also. She was always finding projects for him and her to do. She cared for him for many years and the last six months of his life she was his caregiver in her home as he died of cancer. She never asked anyone to help her take care of  him. --My mom was an expert at painting walls and hanging wallpaper and I'm sure that there are a few people out there whose walls she has touched. --She was extremely generous. She would give you the shirt off her back and not think twice about it. --Most women like to shop. My mom didn't like to shop for clothes but she was in heaven in a home improvement store. --She was a homebody. She didn't like to run the roads but she had a husband who did.  So she would send Robert to the grocery store because she hated to grocery shop. --And last but not least, I didn't realize what a beautiful smile she had until I saw all the photos of her on the slide show at the visitation. She was always beautiful on the inside and out. It seems like my memories of her are sweeter now.

I am the first grandchild of maw maw Taylor and my mom told me that when I was a toddler maw maw would come to visit and I would want to go home with her and when I couldn't I would stand at the door and cry like my heart was broken. In grade school she was the only one I would let take a splinter out of my finger - this meant a visit with maw maw. As a teenager, I remember her sitting for hours untangling a Newton's Cradle (the metal balls on wires that bump together). I bought my first home when I was 19 and she insisted on building my front steps and putting the skirting on it with the help of her husband Robert. She loved to supervise but the hammer and nails were in her hands a lot too. I have two kids now, Carson and Kadie, aged nine and six so they never got to see the maw maw I did but when we would visit her they loved her just the same and would not hesitate to give her a big hug. Thank you maw maw for the memories and love.

It hurt to see my sister slowly fade away.  This disease robbed her of so much life.  Thank you Jesus for stopping her pain and bringing peace to her and all who loved her.  Your sister, Betty.

My mom was always there for me when I was in need and it was a blessing for me to take care of her for the last six years. There have been many trying times but also special moments. Some of the best times was when I could get her to laugh or even just smile. During the past couple of years the smiles became less and less but just a week before she died my brother and I were moving her to bed and I playfully told her to "kick Wayne's butt" and she actually chuckled. I loved it! I think she hung on as long as she could probably for her family. But at the end she was worn out and it was time to go. I hope I learned a little about patience and peace during this battle. I know I have more to learn but I hope the future lessons won't be so hard. I thank her for being there for me. I will miss her and think of her often. Love you, mom.

Judy was like a second mother to me, such a big heart she had.My favorite memory of her was when i had my first son she gave me a belly ban to put around his belly button,what laughs my pediatrician had,he said my lord where did you get this i have not seen one of these in years no need for one but thanks for the laugh.Judy thanks for every memory you left me i will always remember and love you R.I.P. you beautiful lady !!
