Katherine was a co-founder of the SSP Program for the Deaf blind as well as The Contraband Bayou Deaf Club. She was a substitute teacher for the Deaf and an active member of the Deaf community. Katherine also loved reading, history and antiques.
She is survived by her daughter, Katrina Rivers Labouliere and husband, David of Gonzales, LA; son, Lee Rivers of Denver, CO; mother, Lois Smith; sister, Charlotte A. Smith; brothers, Gregory C. Smith and Travis W. Smith all of Sulphur; grandchildren, Kassidi Baldwin, Fayth Thibodeaux, Brynlee Thibodeaux, Mackenzie Labouliere and Kayla Labouliere.
She was preceded in death by her father, Charles A. Smith.
A celebration of life service will be 10am, Thursday, March 17, 2016 at Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home lead by celebrant Jody Barrilleaux. Burial will be in Perkins Cemetery.
