Leonard James Manuel, 68, passed away on Friday, August 30, 2024. He was born to his late parents, Hueward and Beaulah Manuel on August 15, 1956 in Lafayette, Louisiana. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, hunting, fishing, camping, cooking, traveling, dancing, and spending time with his family and friends. He worked at Citgo/Turner Industries for 22 years before he retired in 2008.
He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Theresa Manuel; children, Michael Manuel (Tamera) of Sulphur, Chris Manuel (Stephanie) of Sulphur, and Marlana Gasca (Mario) of Katy, Texas; brothers, Sonny Manuel of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Patrick Manuel of Mamou, Louisiana, and Huey Manuel (Samantha) of Mamou, Louisiana; step siblings, Brenda Redd, Ferrell Soileau of Lake Charles, and Curt Soileau of Eunice, Louisiana; sixteen grandchildren, Austin Manuel, Logan Manuel, Roman Manuel, Taylor Calicoat, Nicholas Calicoat, Rebecca Neilson, Brittni Manuel, Bryce Manuel, Brandon Martin, Bailyn Martin, Kyle Caswell, Dustin Caswell, Emma Caswell, Lauren Drumwright, Kaylen Drumwright, and Marissa Gasca.
Leonard is preceded in death by his siblings, Darrell Manuel and Craig Soileau.
A Celebration of Leonard's life will be held at Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at 11:00 am, with Hixson Celebrant Jody Tyler officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday, from 9:00 am until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Mimosa Pines North Cemetery in Sulphur.
