She was born to Jesse Edwin May and Margaret Jordan May in Corpus Christi on August 18, 1944. She was raised in Clinton, MS and attended Mississippi State College for Women in Columbus, MS. After graduating, she married Walter Lee Oglesby, Jr. and together they moved to Louisiana, settling in Sulphur. Jane taught English and Home Economics. She served many years as both a preschool and Sunday school teacher at Maplewood First Baptist Church where she was a member. Jane loved to travel and enjoyed the many trips she and her husband took with friends and most importantly spending time with her family.
Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 59 years, Walter L. Oglesby; her daughter Stephanie Oglesby Mikesell and husband, Paul of Inlet Beach, Florida; and her son, Lane Oglesby of Sulphur; her brother Lamar May and wife, Cathey of Cumming, Georgia; along with her granddaughters Caitlin Sewell and husband, Clayton of Clinton, Mississippi and Camryn Mikesell of Aiken, South Carolina.
A Funeral service will be held at 10 am on Friday, August 22, 2025 at Hixson Sulphur Funeral Home. Pastor Jerry Parmentier will officiate. Visitation will be held in the funeral home from 5-8 pm on Thursday, August 21, 2025 and will resume Friday, at 8 am until time of service. A Graveside Service and Burial will be held at 10 am on Saturday, August 23, 2025 at Providence Baptist Church Cemetery in Meadville, MS.
