Mary Juanita Blackwell

She was a native of Many and had been a resident of Sulphur for many years. Juanita was a member of Maplewood First Baptist Church. She worked for Gem Jewelry for 27 years as a credit manager. She loved dancing, cooking for her family, playing dominos and cards, gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her children, Kay Blackwell DeRosier and husband, Frank of Elton, and Ricky Blackwell and wife, Jeannie of Sulphur; her siblings, Gordon Anthony of Florien, Bro. Wilton Anthony of Many, and Charles Anthony and wife, Clarine of Shreveport; five grandchildren, Kim Bertrand and husband, Phillip, Karen Schwartzenburg and husband, Francis, Michael DeRosier and wife, Shannon, Kayla Kastner, and Beau Blackwell; twelve great-grandchildren, Chelsie Tullier and husband, Tyler, Austin Bertrand, Kaylee DeRosier, Michael DeRosier, Sydney DeRosier, Danielle Takacs and husband, Victor, Jordan Schwartzenburg, Alyssa Schwartzenburg, Joe Kastner, Jax Kastner, Soren Webb, and Kale Webb; and two great-great-grandchildren, Thomas Tullier and Delta Tullier. She is preceded in death by two daughters, Judy Little and Faye Blackwell; grandson, Robert Scott Webb; her parents, Jasper and Zelma DeLatin; and siblings, Betty Hopkins LaFitte, Robert, Jimmy, Mack, MG, Howard, Buddy, Furman, and Reba Anthony.

Her funeral will be at 9 a.m. Friday, August 31, in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation is from 8 a.m. until time of service in the funeral home. Burial will be in Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery in Florien. Another funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in Antioch Baptist Church in Florien. The Revs. Wilton Anthony and Michael DeRosier will officiate. Visitation will be held from noon until time of service Friday in the church. Pallbearers will be Beau Blackwell, Michael Wade DeRosier, Michael D. DeRosier, Philip Todd Bertrand, Austin Bertrand, Tyler Tullier, Francis Schwartzenburg, and Ricky Blackwell. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Kastner, Jax Kastner, Thomas Tullier, Jordan Schwartzenburg, Victor Takacs, Soren Webb, and Kale Webb.
