

He was a native of Gueydan and had been a longtime resident of Sulphur. He was a member of Our Lady of LaSalette Catholic Church and had been a Cursillo member since 1972. He was the owner and operator of Vincent’s Welding for 40 years. Shelton enjoyed working in his shop, playing the fiddle and the accordion, but his true joy was his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Delores Vincent; his children, Monte Keith Vincent and wife Patricia of Dallas, Texas, and Kala Phillips and husband David of Lake Charles; three brothers, Hubert “Grobeck” Vincent, Warren Vincent and Elwood Vincent, all of Sulphur; and two granddaughters, Natalie and Hannah Phillips.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Alva and Ivy Vincent; two children, Anita Lynn Vincent and Vicky Diane Vincent; two brothers, J.C. and Melvin Vincent; and two sisters, Frances Cormier and Doris Vincent.
His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 21, in Our Lady of LaSalette Catholic Church. The Rev. Andrews Kollannoor will officiate. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines Cemetery South in Carlyss under the direction of Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation is from 5-9 p.m. Thursday with a rosary service at 6 p.m. and from 10 a.m. Friday in the funeral home.
