

Velma Jane Chaisson, 77, was called home on Friday, June 1, 2012, surrounded by her family that she leaves behind to miss her dearly. She is now reunited with the loved ones that have been waiting for her: her parents, Levan and Odille LeBlanc, first-born, Michael Comeaux Chaisson, and sister, Joyce Sonnier. The Good Lord now has another beautiful flower for his garden. Amen.
She was a faithful member of Our Lady of Lasalette Catholic Church. She enjoyed camping, fishing, and gardening. Velma Jane enjoyed life and was fiercly devoted to her family and friends. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory and her gift of love, her devoted husband of 51 years, Curtis "C.J." Chaisson, Jr; her children, Judy Comeaux of Lake Charles, and Floyd Chaisson and wife, Barbara of Carlyss; two sisters, Betty Gaspard and Bonnie Gaspard, both of Sulphur; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog, Sammie Rose.
Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday, June 4, in Our Lady of Lasalette Catholic Church. The Rev. Jim Winiarski will officiate. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery under the direction of Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation is from 4-9 p.m. Sunday with a rosary service at 6 p.m., followed by a Cursillo rosary, and will resume 8:30 a.m. Monday in the funeral home.
