Cecil Robert Bond was born July 23, 1921 in Missoula, MT, to Frank and Louise Bond. He entered into rest on October 9, 2011 at Stafford Suite’s assisted living in Sumner WA surrounded by his loving family. Cecil was one of four children born to Frank and Louise and spent his entire childhood in Milltown, MT. Many wonderful stories were told by Dad about the “hey days” of growing up in Milltown many of which will never be forgotten. Cecil started his working career at the Anaconda Copper Mining Company Mill in Bonner in 1937 and retired in 1983. The only time missed at his lifetime employer was the time he spent serving in WWII. Cecil proudly served in the Army landing on the Island of Okinawa, Japan, on Easter Sunday April 1, 1945.
On July 29 1943 Cecil married the only love of his life Marie Elizabeth Froehlich who he referred to lovingly as “Babe”. From this union came four loving children, Robert, John, James, and Shirley. Dad was truly a gentlemen and the classiest man to ever be placed upon this earth. Dad spent his entire life caring for, protecting, and supporting his entire family. Until the very end of his life anyone that came into contact with Cecil always found time in the conversation to share what a wonderful, kind man he was. Family was his highest priority and the monthly breakfast gathering spent with his 2 sisters and his brother was something that was of great importance and something that he looked forward to every month while he was still living in Missoula.
The love Dad had for Mom was something that is only told in story books and Mom was held close to Dad’s heart every single day even after her passing in April, 2004. Cecil was an avid fisherman and wood worker his entire life and thoroughly enjoyed bowling, square dancing, and vacationing in Jackpot, NV with Marie after their retirement in 1983. Cecil loved a good card game and always remained humble even though he was a well established card shark in the family. Cecil’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the highlight of his life and he never missed an opportunity to watch their participation in sports activities or to tell them how much he loved each and every one of them. Dad excelled at everything he tried and always kept a smile on his face and a twinkle in his baby blue eyes.
Cecil was preceded in death by his Mother and Father, his loving wife Marie, his son John, his beloved granddaughter Elizabeth Marie Larson, and many extended family members and life-long friends. Cecil is survived by his three siblings: Frankie Bond, Eva Bond, and Kathryn Lobdell; sons Robert (Paula), James (Jane), and his daughter Shirley (Bob) Larson; his ten grandchildren: Joan Deschamps (Curtis), Eric Bond (Brittney), Julie (Josh) Price, Jaime Bond (John), Robbie Bond, Heather Muchmore, Dustin Bond, Jenna Bond (Jason), Chelsea Bond (Brady), and Clayton Larson; and his nine great-grandchildren: Mikayla, Mikenna, Mikenly and Mikaull Deschamps; Tana and Benjamin Bond; Kassandra, David, and Nolan Price; his brother and sisters in-laws: Kathleen (Robert) Hauck, Jean Froehlich, Shirley (Ken) Seamen, and Marilyn (Lonnie) Harmon, Shirley Froehlich, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Garden City Funeral home with service announcements to follow. In lieu of flowers the family request donations are sent to Camp-Mak-A-Dream in memory of his “punkin” Elizabeth Larson. There are no words to say how much we will miss you so in your words” see ya later kid.”
