I meet Chris when he placed on ad in the paper. I had seen the ad in the paper on different occasions and never called but kept coming back to it as if something or someone was drawing me to it. I called before going to work and by the time I got home he had already called. After returning his call we spoke for hours as if I had known him forever. We finally meet on May 17th 1994, he had arrived before me and I walked by him just to check him out. I know just from seeing him that he was a kind and gentle man and know I would be safe with him. We had a great time that day going out for lunch, and then a drive to Georgetown Lake in Montana where we shared our first kiss. After the day was over we sat in his GMC Eagle and talked, him making the comment that our kids were going to have beautiful brown eyes. You always know we would be together. On our second date he came to Helena and I got up really early to bake chocolate chip cookies for him, he said they were the best he’d ever tasted and that was the first time that he ever told me that he loved me.
We married on February 25, 1995 in East Helena, Montana and four short months later our son Zachary Allan was born. He was the proudest father I had ever seen, and would do anything for Zachary and I and did. He and Zach shared a special bond in those days; there was no one else that was allowed to give Zach his nighttime bottle. When Zach was almost 1yr. old on April Fool’s Day we found out that Zach was going to be a big brother, we later found out he was going to have baby brother Eirik Aaron. I still remember that day Eirik came home from the hospital, Zach crawled up on the coffee table and give is brother a kiss. Chris and Eirik shared the same bond; Chris was the only one to give Eirik his nighttime bottle.
Chris loved to work in real estate and was able to buy us a four-plex making the down payment with an old gas station that he purchased for a $1 yes $1. He work as hard as he could learning how to do plumbing and electrical while on the phone from his old friend Mark that lived in Spokane, WA. Chris provided a great living for us with his real estate and in construction. He could take a home that was falling apart and bring it back to life even if it meant taking everything down to stud walls; he always wanted the best for his family.
When the boys were only about 18 months and 3 we packed everything up and moved from Montana to Spokane, Washington. We lived in Spokane and the boys started school, played baseball, and touch football. Chris was very proud of his boys on and off the field. He taught them how to fish, to shot rifles, and how to fix cars. He was especially looking forward to helping Zach restore his 1955 Ford F-100 truck and was looking forward to find a car or truck that he and Eirik could restore together. Chris also loved to play the guitar and took great pride that his boys also shared that passion and taught them how to play a small part of Iron Man which they have taken and blossomed into budding guitar players.
Chris was an avid fisherman having gone to Alaska and passed that love of fishing on to both his sons. I remember times when we would go fishing and before he could get his pole in the water either I or the boys would already have a fish on. Chris enjoyed hunting and was looking forward to taking the boys out for their first hunt.
Chris you are the love of my live and always will be. You said that we are soul mates and I do believe we are and I know that I will find you again. Chris love always seemed so right with you. The greatest moments of life have been with you and our boys. To show you the love I have for you a lifetime would never be enough. You are one of the best things that ever happened to me. I always felt safest with you and you always know how to make me feel better. You always encouraged me and told me I could do anything. I know that God must have needed you in heaven to take you so soon, you are either working on his palace trying to get more room or you are working on a real estate deal with him. I will miss you so much and will do my best to finish raising these two fine young men (our sons). I thank God everyday for the time that he did give is together. Thank you for bringing me happiness and making everything right; no matter what I do I’ll always be in love with you.
Love always yours
Annette
Hey dad... How's heaven going for you? I'm glad that you are in heaven and living your dream up there... And I know you have got are log cabin ready for the time when we get up there. The first thing I would want to do with you when I get up there is go fishing with you and uncle Randy and grandpa, just like the times when just me and you would go to the lake and talk and knock the heck out of them fishes...... Also I would want to take those long drives to go get hey for our cows.. And we can talk and stop and get burritos and a coffee just like the good time you and I had. I know that you knew it was your time to go and after a little bit I guess we all knew it was your time. And I know we all are happy for you because you get to live with the man upstairs and you don't have to hurt any more. I know your spirit is watching
over us all and I thank you for that. Well I really just wanted to let you know that I love you and I'm happy for you just like you wanted me to be, I'll do my best to care of mom and Zach, and I can't wait to be up there with you. So you just keep doing your real-estate forth big man, and you will always be remembered for the man you were.
Love you so much, Eirik
I remember when I was little and I had to make this life sized picture and my dad helped draw it and color it and my mom and brother went to dairy queen and bought dilly bars and by the time they got home we had drawn and colored a picture of superman and I thought it was the best thing but now that I remember how it looked I think it looked really good and when I brought it to school we had to hang them in front of the classroom. Another time that I remember is that I had to make a tri board for social studies and that was a hard class and it was about Leif Eriksson because we were learning about explorers and he helped me find all of the information so I could write my essay and my bibliography and all of the pictures so I could get a good grade on the project. Last year he started to teach me how to drive so I could pass my driving test when I was sixteen so I could get my drivers license. I know that I'm going to miss him a lot and I love him a lot.
