Denny was born March 19, 1940, in Butte, Montana, to Herbert and Hazel (Mulligan) Wilson. At age two, he moved with his parents and siblings, Patricia (Wil) Loeken and Michael Wilson to Seattle, where Denny attended St. George Parish School and O'Dea High School. In 1960, while attending Seattle University, he met and married the love of his life Madeline "Maddy" Brinster. During their fifty-four year marriage the extroverted family man raised nine children and excelled wholeheartedly as an industrial engineer, people and program manager, mentor, basketball and baseball coach, volunteer leader, story-teller extraordinaire and friend. He led his life by example, with a kind, generous, fun-loving spirit, and glass half-full outlook. His strong character and sense of humor was unparalleled and inexhaustible to his last days.
Hired into The Boeing Company in 1958 as an airplane electrician, Denny later rose through the ranks in Industrial Engineering (IE) in the Helicopter and Commercial Airplane Companies. He held director level positions in Engineering, Computing, and Operations ultimately achieving an executive leadership role as Director of Program Management for the development of the IE organization for the launch of the new 777 airplane program in 1991. During his thirty-eight-year career, Denny relished volunteering in roles such as Boeing Basketball League President, Boeing Management Association Special Olympics Chairman, and as resident Master of Ceremonies of multiple executive retirement parties.
The Dennis and Madeline Wilson family was a fixture of Assumption Catholic Parish and School in Seattle for thirty years with Denny serving as Parish Council President, CYO athletic director and coach while raising Ann Marie (Eric) Levin, Mary Sue (Crayne), Patrick (Angela), Paul (Darla), Julie (David) Wallace, Katie (Scott) Wood, Christine (Scot) Owens, Carolyn, and Michelle (Nabil) Muqtadir. Denny is preceded in death by sons Dennis and Peter, brother Mike and sister-in-law Patty. He leaves behind a legacy as patriarch of a loving extended family of nieces, nephews, nineteen grandchildren and one great grandson.
Denny's greatest passions included fostering lifelong friendships, embarking on annual cross-country road trips, attending Mariners Spring Training, playing basketball and volleyball, and enjoying Northlake Tavern Pizza. He loved Christmas.
