I'm so very sorry for your loss.  Your husband must have been a very special person.  I know that I'm 8 years late but my heart still breaks  for you and your famiIy.   I've been thinking about you and so I was looking for you and my search lead me here. I am just so sorry for your family's shocking loss of John.  My late husband, Jim Skog, worked with John prior to his retirement in 2003.  I enjoyed his visits to Turners to join the retired people.  He was always a gentle, soft spoken gentleman.  He was also well respected by fellow officers which says much about his character.  I truly feel your loss since I've experienced the same. Dear Karen and extended family;  Tammy and I would like to extend our deepest sympathy to all.  I was shocked to hear of his passing.  Too many of the guys a lot younger than I have passed too suddenly. 

I was hired on the Puyallup Police Department a few months after John.  I worked with him for 25 years and knew him well.  He was one of the hardest working, dilligent officers on the PD.  We worked a lot of shifts together, drank a few beers together and put a few miles on motorcycles together.  He will be greatly missed. 

I have to share one of the funniest stories about John that I can recall at this time.  One night John and Tom Matison were riding together (as they did quite often in years past).  John was driving the marked patrol car and Tom was riding shotgun.  It was in the wee hours just prior to the end of their shift.  John being the devious character he was, parked in the downtown 7-11 parking lot to do reports.  He turned the heat up, rolled the windows up and turned the heat on in the car.  When it was time to end the shift, he noticed Tom the slug Matison was sleeping.  John quietly turned on the overhead red and blues on, quietly exited the car, locked the doors and walked back to the station and went home.  I could tell a lot more but won't take up the space.

that is the way I will remember John, he will be missed by all he touched, both professionally and personally.  R.I.P., John the HULK Eads.

Karen, I am so sorry and disappointed we were out of state when Rodger told of John's passing. He was a valued and respected friend. I remember when he came to me early in his career and asked: whaT DO YOU HAVE TO DO TO GET AHEAD IN THIS OUTFIT. I SAID, " JOHN, FORGET ALL THE NEGATIVE STUFF YOU HEAR FROM THE OLDER GUYS, WORK YOUR BUTT OFF, VOLUNTEER FOR EVERY TRAINING OPPORTUNITY, AND PUT IN FOR EVERY JOB YOUR ELIGIBLE FOR." Needless to say Joghn embrassed that advice and then some. I truly believe he was the best and most tenatious detective Puyallup P.D. ever had. You and your family will be in our prayers and I will never forget John Eads.

Our deepest sympathy to John's family from all of the members of Pierce County Fire District 13, Browns Point/Dash Point Fire Department. Gone but not forgotten.

We are friends of Kyle, and although we did not have the pleasure of meeting John, we know that he raised an incredible man, which says a lot about his character.  We send our love to the entire family during this time.

I Dispatched calls to John for 20 years during his Patrol Duties, Detective & when he became a Sargent.  John was always a pleasure to work with and always had a smile on his face when he would come into the Comm Center. Our thoughts & prayers are with his Family.  John will be missed.

We would like to extend our deepest sympathy to Johns Family. My friend Tammy G and I (Diana) had the pleasure of meeting John shortly after he joined the Puyallup PD. John and his fellow Officers would always come in to Country Kitchen now known as Jasons Restaurant, for breakfast, lunch, dinner or just a cup of coffee. No matter what time of day he came in he was always smiling and always had a kind word to say to you. He was a kind and gentle person. Many years later we became neighbors when I moved in across the street from him and his family. Again we are so sorry for your loss.

I met John 23 years ago when he became one of my first Field Training Officers.  Over the years I had the opportunity to develop a wonderful friendship with John that I will always cherish.  While he may have shown a “rough around the edges” demeanor, everyone knew that he was a kind and wonderful man that loved his family, friends, and his police department.  I will truly miss meeting up with him every few months at Starbucks to just talk about life.
John had a saying that he would use when one of his officers made a great arrest.  I think that this same saying sums up John's life.  “All in all, very nicely done”.

Our thought, prayers to Karen and "John John's" family. We love that guy. His stories he told were second to none and his advice from his experience were always spot on. He told it like it was. He had retirement figured out and was taken from us much to soon.

When I think of John I think of wisdom, respect, and friendship.  I will so miss his genuine smile and kind words; you always knew he really cared.  Karen, I can't stop thinking about you and how much pain you must be in and am so sorry.  I have no doubt John is looking down on you and the kids and will be sending you messages along life's journey, and know he will still be there with you in memories and in spirit.  He will truly be missed by us all!

Dear Karen and family.  I cannot begin to tell you how shocked and saddened DeeDee and I were when we received news of John's passing last week.
Very early in my career John reached out and extended his support and friendship.  He became a mentor, trainer, and friend.  It was always comforting to know that John was working the same shift or responding to the same call.  I think back fondly of some "Johnism's" such as "green grams",  and his remarking "it ain't easy".  Days spent on the golf course were always special.
John was taken from us much to soon.  DeeDee and I extend our deepest sympathy, but know that your love and memories of John will comfort you and your family.

Dear Karen and family -   We will surely miss stopping by on our walks, or having John over for a beer and catchin' up. We always enjoyed his company.   I can still see him driving up in his old Ford, big smile, get out, and he would always, always, always give me a big hug and kiss and warm greeting.  We'd then go to the back deck where Dan would proceed to hide in the shade while John and I would have our chairs in full sun!  For 22 years I've watched all the wonderful contributions he gave to the Department, this Community, and how he loved his family so unconditionally. He always talked so proudly of you and his children. John is and has been a true, dear friend to Dan and I.  By just being around him we learned so much from the way he presented himself to the way he just told it like it was, yet showed so much compassion. He had such an appreciation for things that most folks just walk past and wouldn't even see.  He was always there to lend a helping hand & as you know, some cops are excellent on the street, but not so mechanically inclined w/ tools and home improvement projects! I remember John helping me dig a 4-5 foot deep hole to tap into the water line to put in our sprikler system.  We couldn't have done it without him.  About 3 days later, we had a gusher in the middle of the night!  John was so worried we hadn't sealed something or did something wrong and he was so relieved to find we just had a faulty PVC pipe! It has been an honor and privilege to know John. We will still stop by on our walks, and you are welcome to come by anytime.  If you need ANYTHING at all, please do not hesitate to ask. May the memories of his warm smile & sincere love of family, friends and life that created so many wonderful memories help carry you through this difficult time. I knew John because of my brother.  They worked together at the Bremerton Ship Yards.  John was such a nice man.  He will be  missed by whoever knew this fine  man.  My sympathy to his family.

If anyone needed anything, he was there. Brian always considered John a good friend. We've lost but not forgotten another of the good ones.

I will always remember John as an excellent cop who went out of his way to do what needed to be done.  We served closely together back in the 1980s in the old "investigations unit" and I could always depend on John to complete an investigation well.  We also worked the streets together pushing that blue and white around looking for and aften catching the bad guy.  My memories of John are fond ones and I will miss not spending more time with him in our retirement years.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to Karen and family in this difficult time.

I would like to express my sincere sympathy to you Karen and to John's children, grandchildren, mom and dad and his entire family during this sad and difficult time.  My thoughts and prayers are with you.

John was one of those guys that could pick you up with his compliments and a kiss (In front my husband and of course, Karen).  To him, politically correct was out the window...but he was true, kind, honest, and loyal. I wouldn't have wanted to be friends with him any other way.  My life has been blessed by knowing him.  All in All, a life well lived.  Nicely Done John John!  You will be missed.

Karen and family - My thoughts and prayers are with you during this very difficult time. John meant a lot to me and the Puyallup Police Department. John had a profound impact on the men and women of the Puyallup Police Department and ensured that we all remember the officers who came before us. John was an extraordinary man and will be greatly missed. I was very fortunate to get to know him on a personal level while we worked together. Thank you for sharing him with us!

It was an honor to serve with John during my 29 years with the PPD.  My most vivid memory of John was him poking his head in my office door and saying "got a minute?"  John contributed great things to PPD to include initiatives and ideas like the take home car program, new badge design, the departments award program and the fantastic historical display he put together and paid for that now is hanging proudly in the hallways of the department.  John was a great cop, a good person and a friend.  He will be remembered.

Words cannnot begin to express the sadness in my heart.  John was an outstanding officer, terrific sergeant, and a compassonate man.  When working with him, he always put the safety of his officers first and never hesitated to stop by dispatch to say hello or have a concern addressed.

I am blessed to have had the opportunity to know him and Karen.  They were so happy together.  My sincere condolences to Karen who has lost her best friend and to the family who lost such a wonderful man.

Please accept my sincere condolences for the loss of John.  He was a great officer, great detective, great sergeant and a great friend of the jail.  As a supervisor, John would physically walk into the jail, during his shift, just to see how we were doing.

He was a man of solutions.  John did not point out things that needed repair or improvement; he fixed things.

The world is truly a lesser place, due to the loss of John.

I will always remember John.....    I'll remember when he first hired on.   I'll remember his unique Viet Nam experience.  I'll remember the many times we pushed a patrol car around together.  I'll remember the drug cases we worked together.  I'll remember the slow-pitch team we played on.  I'll remember the old Blue Knight motorcycle trips we used to take together.  I'll remember him in "the Hulk" costume at Halloween.  I'll remember playing golf with him.  I'll remember all the PD historical interests we shared.  But most of all, I'll always remember his friendly smile and that wonderful personality.

Karen, although John had not been a member of our retired group for long, please remember that you are also included in that "special" club as well.  Stay in touch and rely on your PPD family for anything you need.

I had the pleasure of knowing and working with John for the past 24 years.  John was one of those Officers who exemplified Pride, Integrity and Guts throughout his career.  His lasting legacy will be his memorials to the past with with the pictures and news articles posted around the station.  It was truely a pleasure to know and work with John.

John was an encourager, who coached others to not let the job consume them and to remember that there is life out there to be lived.
