Richard Thomas Payne

Richard (Dick) Thomas Payne, 80 1/2 years old, passed away at 4:50am on Tuesday 31st January, 2017 at St. Joseph Memorial Hospital in Tacoma Washington after a long battle with heart disease, diabetes, lung disease, and finally, the flu and related complications. He died peacefully in his sleep.

He is survived by his twin sister Claudette (Payne) Teifke and husband Fred and their families; his wife Darlene Lavonne Payne; his son Scott Gregory Payne and wife Lori and their 2 sons Kyle and Kevin; and his daughter Michelle Rene' (Payne) Scott and husband Bryan.

Richard was born May 12, 1936 in Los Angeles California, grew up in Oregon, and most recently resided in Sumner and Puyallup Washington. He dutifully served his country for his entire career, over 20 years. He loved his family and his country and was active duty Navy then went on to serve as a Naval Investigator for the remainder of his career. Although there is now a great void, he left behind a legacy of memories for his family, friends, and colleagues. He will be dearly missed.
