Our wonderful father, grandfather and friend went to join the love of his life, Eleanor, and be with our Lord on Saturday, January 24, at the age of 80. He was surrounded by loving family at the time of his passing. Born on Oct. 23, 1934, in Sumner, WA to Lyle and Luella Andrews, he lived his entire life in Sumner where he spread his positive attitude and great sense of humor to those he came in contact with. In 1952 he met Eleanor on a blind date and married two years later. God blessed him with two adopted children who did not know otherwise and are honored to have his name. Second only to his wife, his children and grandchildren were the light of his life and "Gramps" will forever be in their hearts.
After graduating from Sumner High School, Stan held a number of jobs but settled on a 39 year career with Boeing missing only one day of work. In addition to his family, his interests included eating, building bicycles, collecting Big Little Books, traveling, gardening and walking. Although "Stan the Man" was considered a man of few words, his actions and helping of others was second to none. To the end a handshake was a handshake, a true man of integrity.
Stan will be painfully missed by his son Ward (Kristin), daughter Nancy (Randy) and granddaughters Brittany, Bry, Jessica and Jenn, life-long friends and his squirrels. He is survived by his sister Marilyn.
The family extends a special thanks to Dad's heart care family led by Dennis Nichols, M.D., who was largely responsible for us having Stan around for another year.
A service will be held Tuesday, February 3rd at 1:00 p.m., at Sumner United Methodist Church (UMC). Rememberances may be made to either Sumner UMC Memorial Fund, 901 Wood Ave., Sumner, WA 98390, or Sumner High School Alumni Association, P.O. Box 452, Sumner, WA 98390.
