
Stephanie Utt of Glenn Dale, Maryland, passed away peacefully on June 14, 2016 amongst the care of family and friends in Puyallup, Washington. Stephanie was born on December 3, 1924 in Chicago, Illinois to Steve Cozan and Yosefa Karpiesz. After spending her youth and completing her education in Illinois and West Virginia, she and her twin sister struck out with a sense of exploration and independence, moving to the Washington, DC area. She lived a life dedicated to the service industry, working well into her seventh decade. Most of that time was spent doing what she enjoyed, creating a memorable experience for the clientele at Kushner’s Seafood restaurant in Silver Spring, Maryland. Through hard work and generosity, Stephanie upheld a fine life example for family and friends; an example that was recognized with several community awards. She is remembered by loved ones for her enjoyment of reading, crosswords, flowers, and family.
Stephanie is predeceased by her sisters, Alice Racine, June Chattin and Josephine Withrow; husband, William Utt; and son, Buddy Kozen. She is survived by her brother, Steve Kozen, Jr.; her son, James Kozen; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; extended family and friends.
Interment services will be held at 2:30pm on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at Fort Lincoln Cemetery, Bladensburg, Maryland.
