2/16/62 - 10/23/10
After a 9 year battle with cancer, Terrence (Terry) L. Kruger is no longer in pain and is relaxing in Heaven. He passed on October 23, 2010. Terrence was born February 16, 1962 at Keesler AFB, MS to Ira L. and Katherine M. Kruger. Terry lived the first 6 years of his life at 3 different Air Force Bases in the US until his family move to Alaska where he lived until 1999. He
graduated from Chugiak High School, Chugiak, AK in 1980 where he was captain of the basketball team and student body president. After graduation, he attended Seattle Pacific University for a time and then returned to Alaska where he pursued a career in real estate. He became an agent in May 1981 and later that year became the youngest broker ever in the state of Alaska. He went back to school and earned his B.A. degree in Marketing from the University of Alaska. As he worked his
way through college he was employed by Statewide Petroleum as the Office Manager. After graduation from college he went to work for Tesoro Petroleum as part of the Marketing and Developing Team for the Pacific Northwest and Hawaii. Tesoro has been a great support for our family during the 9 year battle. Terry led a study 3 years in a row to downsize the company and recommended cutting his position. He was fighting cancer at the time. Tesoro refused and kept him on. Not only did they keep him as an employee, they conducted fundraising events for the Leukumia/Lymphoma Society raising over $250,000 in Terry’s name. After his stemcell transplant in 2003, Terry could no longer work. He made the best use of the time when he felt well by volunteering at St. Francis House, helping at Brouillet Elementary where he was receipient of the Golden Acorn Award in 2006, driving neighborhood carpools, playing lifeguard for all the neighborhood kids in the pool, helping the homeless, and being a loving father and husband. Surviving are his wife Tami; children Bo, Colten, and Laken; parents Ira and Kathy, sisters Cindy and Jan, neices, nephews, great neices, great nephews, and many friends who feel like family.
