Andrew "Drew" Brian Ackert

Andrew "Drew" Brian Ackert, born June 24, 2002, in Mesa, Arizona, passed away on October 23, 2025, at the age of 23. Drew was a brave, generous and gentle individual, known for his resilience and loyalty. He was loved by all who knew him.

Drew grew up in Queen Creek and Peoria, Arizona. He graduated high school in 2020 from Sunrise Mountain High School in Peoria, where he was active in Unified Sports and competed in the Special Olympics. Drew pursued higher education at Arizona State University, where he majored in computer science.

Drew is survived by his mother, Lisa Ackert, and her partner, Dan; his father, Brandon Ackert, and his wife, Sally; and his siblings, Jordan, Brandon Jr., Jacob, and Aspen. He will also be remembered by his beloved dog, Charlie, whom he lovingly called his daughter.

Drew was passionate about his family and friends. He loved all things sports, including the Denver Broncos, Phoenix Suns, Florida Gators, and Arizona Rattlers. He had a fondness for Star Wars, lemon pie, funny funky socks, dad jokes, and Legos. Drew loved to spend time with his family and introduce them to his passions. He loved to make people smile and laugh, especially when they needed it. He was a truly incredible person and gave his heart to his family and friends and was there for them in the good times and hard times. He was someone that could draw out a smile in any given situation and was always there for those who needed him.

Drew’s qualities and personality made him truly special. He was incredibly smart and resilient, with a remarkable sense of humor. He was always quick with a joke and was one of the funniest people ever. Drew loved to laugh and lived to make others laugh and feel special. He embraced life by welcoming everyone and choosing to see the good in every situation. He truly lived through his heart, exemplifying compassion, kindness, love, acceptance, and forgiveness. Drew's kind hearted nature and warmth will be remembered by all who had the pleasure to know him.

Drew's family has asked donations to be left for the Christopher and Dana Reeve foundation in Drew's memory.
