Audrey Bruening, long-time resident of Sun City West, AZ, passed away on June 17, 2012 at the age of 87. Born in Milwaukee, WI, , daughter of the late Arthur and Frieda Schmidt, Audrey and her husband Howard Bruening lived in West Allis, WI for many years, but enjoyed travelling in the Southwest. In 1985 they moved to Sun City West. Audrey then became involved in a number of community activities, including swimming and learning computer skills. For many decades Audrey was actively involved in raising funds for and increasing public awareness of Lupus, a disease of the auto-immune system. She also volunteered for the organization Interfaith in Milwaukee and in Sun City. Preceded in death by her brother Willard Schmidt, Audrey is survived by her husband Howard, sister-in-law Arlyn Meier of Brookfield, WI, her niece Kari Schmidt of Milwaukee, her nephew Rand Schmidt of Milwaukee and many other relatives and friends.
