

Betty Mary Hobbs, 95, passed away on January 2, 2015 in Peoria, Arzona. Betty was born Bessie Mary Bangle to Robert and Bessie Bangle on August 22, 1919 in Humboldt County, Eureka, California. She was a twin to Bert Bangle. Betty was very small and her Mom feed her straight Can Pet Milk; she grew and survived.
Betty lived most of her life in San Bernardino, California. She was a waitress, caterer and restaurant manager of Lloyd’s Café in San Bernardino for many years. It was at this café that she met Erie Hobbs. They were married in September of 1960. They built a 3-story house in Arrowhead Highlands in the Crestline area of the San Bernardino Mountains, where they lived until the 1990s. After that, they moved to Yucaipa, California where Betty became the Social Director for many years at the Mobile Home Park in Yucaipa, California. She enjoyed playing canasta and hosting many dinner parties. Betty accepted Christ in the early 1990s and was the Captain of the Prayer Chain of her Church. She moved to the Baptist Village North Campus in Sun City in 2004, spending her final year at the Green House of Life Streams.
Betty is survived by two children, son Bill (Pam) Herthel of Wilderville, Oregon and daughter Kathy (Harry) Tate of Sun City, AZ; grandchildren, Ted Herthel, Jake Herthel, Tina Kaye Herthel Miller, Pamala Tate Howard, Bonnie Tate McCormick, and Joe Tate; great grandchildren, Blake Herthel, Grant Miller, Hope Martin, Charlie Halse, Chris Halse, Michelle Howard, Allison McCormick, Eric McCormick, Joey Tate, Kristina Tate and Corey Tate; great great grandchildren, Eli McKnight Martin, McKenzie Halse, Shawn Raab, Taylor Hardy, Dylan McCormick, Ethan McCormick, Ryleigh McCormick, and Declan McCormick; brother, Ed (Marie) Bangle; and sister, Elsie Coulter.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, January 6, at the First Baptist Church in Sun City. The family prefers memorial contributions be directed to the First Baptist Church of Sun City, Life Streams-Greenhouse 3 or Hospice of Arizona.
