Brian requested to be cremated. A celebration of Brian’s life will take place in April in Sioux City, IA.
Details of the celebration will be announced after the arrangements have been made. We will ask attending family and friends to share their memories and stories of Brian’s humor, love and life.
Brian Keith Olund was born 1-13-1956 to Trygve “Trig” Olund and Mary (Olsen) Olund in Sioux City Iowa. He grew up in Sioux City except for one year when the family lived on Luke Air Force Base in Arizona. Brian graduated from East High School in 1974 and then attended Iowa State University. He spent his career at CDS in Des Moines IA.
Brian married Pamela Knight in May 1989. They made their home in Des Moines, Iowa. He retired from CDS in 2017. In 2019 Brian and Pam moved to Sun City, AZ.
Brian was an amazing guy. If you were lucky enough to be his friend, you were a friend for life. He was best friends with Don since they were 3 years old. When he attended ISU, he made lifelong friends that he stayed in contact with until his passing. They had wonderful times together over the years.
Brian cherished his family. We honestly believe he was “the favorite cousin” on the Olund side.
Brian loved a good drink, sweet treats, trivia, traveling, movies and cheering for ISU basketball. Most of all he loved music. He took pleasure in sharing his taste in a wide variety of music with his sister and nephew.
Unfortunately, Brian was diagnosed with Parkinsons which took him from us. It’s a dreadful disease that slowly destroys a person. We enjoyed 68 years with Brian, but it wasn’t enough. All will terribly miss him.
Survivors include his wife Pam, mother Mary, sister Lesly (Craig) Bolles, daughter Cory, nephews and niece Jason (Kim) Smith, Jessica Smith and Jared (Shelby) Smith. Great nephews Levi, Logan and Luke. Aunts, many cousins, and close friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Trygve.
Please join us for Brian’s Celebration of Life on Saturday April 20, 2024, 11:00 to 4:00.
Lunch will be served at 12:00.
