Catherine Anne "Kay" Morgan, age 76, passed away Wednesday morning, January 26, 2022. She was born and lived her childhood in Pittsburg, PA. She was a graduate of St. Wendelin High School in 1963 and Shadyside Hospital School of Nursing in 1966, also in Pittsburgh. On August 27, 1966, Kay married John Frederick Morgan, a graduate of Annapolis Naval Academy. As part of an Air Force military family, Kay lived and worked in various cities: Boston, MA; Los Alamos, NM; Albuquerque, NM; Las Cruces, NM; and El Mirage, AZ for eventual retirement to be close to children..
Kay served as a faithful servant of God, had a long, successful career as a Registered Nurse, and was a wonderful beloved wife and mother to three children. She was a devoted Catholic attending church weekly. As a nurse, she was true to the words of “The Nightingale Pledge” with loyal devotion of self to the welfare of those committed under her care. She worked decades in the emergency room. and surgical services working alongside physicians to serve those patients needing hope, treatment, and care. She worked night shifts, as needed, to ensure she was around for the kid’s activities and was a strong influence in faith during their lives.
Kay enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family and friends. While retired, John and Kay lived their dreams of traveling throughout the National Parks of the United States and Canada in their luxurious RV with friends. Travels took them places including Key West, FL; Sequim, WA; Victoria, BC; Calgary, AL; Banff National Park, AL; the CA coastline; Yellowstone; Glacier National Park, MO; Colorado Springs, CO (Air Force Academy); Williamsport, PA; and many other places as they visited family and friends. Kay’s favorite was to spend time on the Morgan land in Antonito, CO enjoying nature hikes, board games with friends and family (Trivial Pursuit was a favorite!), train rides, and simply enjoying a glass of wine with good company. Kay loved dogs. They brought great joy and smiles through the years of her life.
Kay is survived by her sweetheart and husband of 55 years, retired Lt. Col. John Frederick Morgan of Sun City, AZ; her son Christopher Alan Morgan with wife Lily and daughter Alexandra Lee Morgan of Scottsdale, AZ; her daughter Pamela Lynn Morgan and Kristine Bribriesco of El Mirage, AZ; her son Kevin Michael Morgan and wife Christine Morgan with children, Adam Stempeck and Sara Murphy, of Albuquerque, NM; her sister Patricia Baldwin of Sequim, WA; her sister Carol Fowler Belenski of Anchorage, AK.
