Cecil H. Cole, 88, of Peoria, Arizona, after making the decision to discontinue dialysis, passed away on his own terms due to renal failure on January 26, 2019. Cecil was born in Cortez, Colorado on September 21, 1930 to Alonzo and Imogene (Roberts) Cole, the youngest of 5 brothers. Cecil and his parents moved to Southern California at the age of 8. At a very young age he became interested in electricity and everything electrical. He built his first crystal set (radio) when he was in 5th grade. After graduating from Redlands High School in 1948, he married the love of his life, Lois (Lahoda) Cole. He went on to graduate from San Bernardino Valley College with an Associate’s Degree in Electronics. He worked for many years as a Quality Control Supervisor at AeroJet General Corporation in Azusa, CA. After moving to Central Point, Oregon in 1970, he worked at Flow Technology also as a Quality Control Manager. In 1978, they moved to Phoenix, Arizona where they have resided since. In 1990 he was diagnosed and beat bladder cancer. Then in 2007 he beat prostate cancer and in 2008 he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. After surgery and chemo, he became a 9 year survivor of this terrible cancer. He had been cancer free since 2009. By 2013, his kidneys had failed and he began almost 6 years of dialysis. Cecil was a lover of learning. If he found something that interested him, he was at the bookstore buying books to learn all he could. He had too many interests to count, but especially loved technology, photography, and anything to do with working in his garage on wood or metal.
Cecil is survived by his wife of 69 years, Lois; his three children, Jan (Lefty) Broderick, Steve Cole, and T. Wayne (Claudia Mitchell) Cole; four granddaughters, Tamera Starfas, Danee (Wiley) Fisher, Vanessa (Anthony) Fuchs and Kailey (Scott) Moody; five great-grandchildren; Billy Grewell, Nicole Whalen, Landen and Harper Fisher and Paige Fuchs.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Palm Brook Dialysis in Sun City, AZ for their compassionate care over the last 6 years. We would also like to thank Northwest Valley Connect and all of their many ride volunteers for all of the numerous trips taking Cecil to and from dialysis.
Services will be private.
