Clara married her husband, Cullen, in 1943. She was a loving mother to their two children. Her grandson was a great joy in her life. Clara had a career in banking on Wall Street for 43 years. She loved her job and lunching at Schrafft’s with her girlfriends, even though for many years it meant a bus and subway daily commute of over three hours. After retirement, Clara and Cullen moved to Florida for a few years where she enjoyed all the beach and outdoor activities. She was devoted to caring for her husband for many years until his passing. They moved to Sun City Arizona in 1985 where Clara made many new friends and was involved with community activities. She was a Lioness and friend of some of the original Pom Pom girls. She took pride in her home and loved to shop, decorate, paint and rearrange the furniture. For the past 16 years, she lived in Sun City West. She became a member of the First Baptist Church of Sun City West, and took great comfort in her faith. In spite of physical challenges in recent years, she had an indomitable spirit. Clara loved visits and calls with friends and family and afternoon coffee with her friend and neighbor, Joe Ballard. She will be greatly missed.
Clara is survived by her daughter, Lois Gossett; son, Ray and his wife, Ilene; and her grandson Raymond. She was predeceased by her dear brother Oscar Olsen.
Services will be private with a Celebration of Life planned for a later date.
