He was born in Springfield, Illinois on November 21, 1964 to Richard and Sharon McConnell.
He is survived by this parents and sister Jennifer Siefert and 3 nephews, Grant, Colin and Adam Siefert. Darrell was active in scouts and little league baseball and was a member of Laurel Methodist Church.
He graduated from Pleasant Plains High School with honors, and received an appointment to the Air Force Academy in Colorado. After he returned from there he attended ISU and then went to work at the Illinois Department of Revenue. He ended his career as an Auditor for the State of Illinois.
