

Dennis Eugene Maach age 76, was born November 16, 1946 in Fort Dodge, Iowa to Jason and Helen Maach. He passed August 24, 2023. He grew up in Humboldt, Iowa and graduated from high school in Humboldt. He was involved in football, track and basketball in high school and was a gifted athlete. He loved college sports and was a huge Iowa Hawkeye Football fan and after moving to Arizona became an Arizona Cardinals fan. Denny attended UNI on a track scholarship, but left college to volunteer for the Marine Corp during the Vietnam war. He attended Officer Candidate School in Quantico, VA. After graduating from OCS he was a commissioned officer and sent to Vietnam. He was a platoon commander in Vietnam until he was wounded and was sent back to the USA to recover. He was released from active duty with the rank of Captain in the USMC. He was very proud of his service to the United States of America and always believed this country was worth fighting for. Denny had a successful career in the automobile industry. He worked in finance and sales and also worked at Charles Schwab in Phoenix, AZ. Denny loved his friends, family, and his beloved Shetland Sheepdogs. Denny always joined in our raucous family gatherings where there was always much fun and laughter.
He is survived by his wife Liz whom he married in 1976, his son Bryan D Maach (Amy), brother Bruce (Leslie) Maach, his granddaughters Cierra and Eriel Maach, grandson Dennis Maach, granddaughter Hailey Friedley and daughter-in-law Amber Friedley. He is preceded in death by his parents Jason and Helen Maach, his mother-in-law Marilyn Hrubes and father-in-law Ellwyn Smith, his brother-in-law Tim Smith, his sister-in-law and brother-in-law Lisa and Joel Hess and his stepson, Tony Friedley.
