

Donald Lee Falk, age 93, passed away on May 6, 2015 in Sun City. He was born April 21, 1922 in Holdrege, Nebraska to Carl Gust and Anna Marie (Anderson) Falk. Donald’s primary education was at Kearney County Dist. #9 and he graduated from Wilcox High School with the class of 1939.
Donald attended College of Agriculture at the University of Nebraska. He enlisted in the Army after the Pearl Harbor attack and served as a drill sergeant at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. Donald attended Officer Candidate School in Fort Benning, Georgia and as a 1st Lt. he served as Platoon leader with the 80th Infantry Division, European Thester during WWII. After WWII he was assigned to Officer Reserve and was called to active duty during the Korean conflict. He served as Infantry Platoon leader with 3rd Infantry Division and was awarded a Combat Infantry Badge, a Bronze Star for Merit Achievement, and a Korean Service Medal with 2 Bronze Stars.
Donald received an honorable discharge in 1952 and returned to Nebraska to farm with his brother Charles. He served on many community boards. On April 11, 1981 Donald was united in marriage to Eleanor Driscoll at the First Presbyterian Church in Axtell, Nebraska. He retired from farming in 1985, first moving to Woodale, Illinois and later to Sun City, Arizona.
Donald was a member of Grace Bible Church in Sun City, Arizona, and a lifetime member of Lions International, serving in various capacities and was awarded the Melvin Jones Fellowship award. He also volunteered with Sun City Prides and the Westside Food Bank.
A visitation for Donald was held from 2-4 pm on Sunday, May 10, 2015 at Sunland Mortuary, 15826 Del Webb Blvd, Sun City, AZ. Funeral service was held the following day, Monday, May 11, 2015 at 2:00 pm at Grace Bible Church, 19280 N 99th Ave, Sun City, AZ. Donald was laid to rest at Sunland Memorial Park in Sun City.
