

Donald Robert Rees, 98, passed away Tuesday, February 7, 2017 in Surprise, AZ. He was born to the late Fred and Eva Rees in Tipton, Indiana. Donald graduated from Purdue University in 1940 with a bachelor degree in mechanical engineering. He married Marguerite E. Park in 1941 for 61 years until her passing in 2002. Donald also proudly served his country during World War II as an Army veteran in Guam.
In his civil career, he was employed with General Public Utility Corp. for 32 years. He assisted with the design, construction, and operations of electric power plants serving as a project manager with mechanical and nuclear engineers. After retiring and moving to Sun City from Morris Plains, NJ, Donald remained active with other interests. He was a long term member of the Faith Presbyterian Church of Sun City serving the church in many roles. He was affiliated with the Masonic & Elks lodges, Scottish Rite, Shrine organizations. Donald was a charter member of the Sun City Recreational Board and was also involved in the Sun City Model Railroad and Purdue Club, and Sundial High Twelve Club #447.
Donald is preceded in death by his wife, Marguerite; parents and brother, Richard Rees. He leaves behind to cherish his memory: daughters, Sue Goodwin and Sharon Rees; his 104 year young sister, Dolores Morris; grandchildren, Jason Bird (Joe Ann) of Mesa, AZ, Stephen Mellott of Virginia, Bret Mellott (Brook) of Germany, Jeff Bird of Mesa, AZ, Christopher Cutter (Victoria) of New York, and Stephanie Sanderson (David) of New Hampshire; 4 great grandchildren and 2 great-great children.
Services will be Friday, February 10, 2PM, graveside at Sunland Memorial Park with military honors. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the American Macular Degeneration Foundation (www.macular.org) in memory of Donald.
