Donna was born on October 19, 1933 in the small, most eastern Iowa town of Clinton. During her childhood her family moved to Charles City, Iowa where she graduated from high school while working in the family owned grocery store. Wanting to attend Arizona State University she then moved to Phoenix, Arizona. Eager to join the workforce she enrolled and graduated from Lamson Business College where she obtained her Secretarial Degree. During this time she met Doug and they were married in April, 1957. Her two sons Scott (1958) and Kevin (1961) were soon to follow and took great pride in focusing her attention on raising her family.
In the late 60’s and early 70’s the family moved to the Kansas City, MO area and Topeka, KS. While Donna had always enjoyed drawing and painting, she decided to take up acting. While in Missouri, a wooded area had an acting playhouse that she joined. She obtained a large part in the production of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” and thoroughly enjoyed the time spent memorizing lines and costume designs.
At various times throughout her life she entered the workforce applying her secretarial skills in the medical and business fields. The family returned to Phoenix in the mid-70's and in 1980 she obtained a secretarial position with the State of Arizona. After more than 15 years here she retired from this position in 1996. Once again she returned focus on her family, artwork and travel with her husband.
Donna passed on November 30, 2011 in Phoenix, Arizona. She is survived by her brother Harry Rasdal of Spencer, Iowa, her husband Doug, two sons Scott and Kevin, seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
