
Eric was born on February 10, 1932. William Carlos Williams, the poet and physician, delivered Eric at St. Mary’s Hospital in Passaic, New Jersey.
Eric was married to Ethyl Andersen (née Logan) on June 28, 1952, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Shortly after their wedding, Eric was drafted into the army and served in Germany during the Korean War.
He enjoyed a successful career as a salesman in the packaging industry, working for Keystone Folding Box Company in Newark, New Jersey. In addition, Eric volunteered as a firefighter in Company 3 in Fair Lawn, New Jersey. He had many hobbies and interests, including outdoor activities such as hiking, swimming in the ocean, biking, cross-country skiing, and kayaking, as well as carpentry and stained glass. Perhaps Eric’s favorite activity was enjoying a good meal with family and friends.
In 2009, Eric was predeceased by his wife Ethyl. In his later years, he enjoyed the companionship of Pat Kaminski. Eric is survived by his daughter, Judy Andersen (Michael La Veglia), his son Eric Andersen (Monica), and his daughter Leigh Andersen. He will be greatly missed by his grandchildren Aurora, Kristen, and Lars, and his great-granddaughter Vera Ethyl. Eric also is survived by his younger sister Rita (Neal Basile), niece Jill Martin (Jeff) and nephew Jeff Basile (Courtney), and grandnieces Mia and Addie, and grandnephews Ole and Ben.
Eric’s wish was to be interred in the Northern New Jersey Veterans Memorial Cemetery 75 North Church Road, Sparta, NJ 07871. Family and friends are invited to attend on Saturday August 3, 2024, at 12:15 p.m. Immediately following, all are invited to a repast and a celebration of Eric’s life at The Lafayette House, 75 State Route 15, Lafayette, NJ 07848.
