He was born October 8, 1951 in Elkhart, Indiana, to the late Donald and Margaret (White) Grass. Eric is survived by his wife Beverle, whom he married on January 1, 1979 in Lexington Park, Maryland. They just celebrated their 42nd anniversary. Also surviving are two step children Catherine (David) Van Wyhe of Lynch Station, Virgina, and Steven (Kristin) Gregory of Lexington Park, Maryland. Surviving also, three grand children; David (Tiffany) Van Wyhe, Donald (Rhiannon) Van Wyhe and Daniel (Brittany) Van Wyhe; 2 grand step-sons, Brandon and Matthew Jarrett, 2 great granddaughters, Olivia and Bryar and one great grandson, Corbin. Remaining are his brother Victor (Cindy) of Sun City, AZ, sisters Rhea Meiring, Martinsville, IN, TMTeresa (Don) Lechlitner, Middlebury, IN, Jane Aldridge, Lizella, GA, and Brenda (James) Russell of Marion, .
Eric was a 1969 graduate of Jefferson High School, in Goshen, IN. He worked at Kropf Mfg. in Goshen, after graduating high school. After about a year of employment there, he enlisted in the Navy in 1971. He decided to make it his career, and retired after 20 years serving his country as a Chief Petty Officer.
Eric was a hard-working, compassionate, funny man who loved his family and his family loved him.
Those who knew Eric will say that he was one of the finest men they have known. He was a devoted husband, grandfather and friend. He served our country honorably. He faithfully attended worship and received the Lord’s Supper regularly.
A service of remembrance will be held Wednesday, February 3, 2021. 10:30 a.m. viewing at Sunland Mortuary in Sun City, AZ with 1:00 p.m. interment at National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona in Phoenix, AZ.
