Our mother passed away at 95 years of age early the morning of May 17th, 2021 in Peoria Arizona. Jean was born, one of fourteen siblings, on February 6th, 1926 in Friedheim, Missouri. She was raised on a farm where future family reunions were a remarkable event. Jean was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Felix J. Seems, Jr.
She is survived by her two sons, Garrett Seems of Peoria, AZ, David Seems of Highlands Ranch, Colorado and her daughter in-laws Robin and Susie. She was grandmother to five, Rebecca Leslie of Louisville, CO, Wesley Seems of Denver, CO, Emily Allen of Fort Collins, CO, Jeffrey Seems of Highlands Ranch, CO and Mathew Seems of Parker CO. There are Four Great Grand children, Holly and Hannah Leslie and Cooper and Edie Allen. Her surviving and younger brother, Kelly Brune of Friedheim, MO.
In 1946 her future husband and her met while she was on another date, apparently love at first sight; leading to a marriage lasting until his passing in 1995.
While raising two sons, she returned to school in 1961; graduating from Penrose Hospital Nursing in Colorado Springs as a LPN. Jean's career spanned over 30 years. She was sharp, efficient and compassionate, a nurse's nurse. She retired from Luke AFB in 1991. Our mother personally cared for our father in his waning years. She took medical directive from the doctors at the VA, while nursing for him at home. She loved our father through thick and thin. My brother and I are forever grateful. Our mother was kind, gentle but firm. She helped anyone in need, qualities we admire. It was our pleasure to help take care of her in the later years as she took care of us in the earlier years.
While retired, she kept a garden for many years. A hobby a farm girl did well. She enjoyed cooking at home, chocolate by the pound at Christmas. She loved animals and always had a dog, feeding them her "snackys". And she just loved being retired, "I'll sleep as late as I want"...yes you will and right next to Felix.
Jean's burial is on Wednesday 5/26/2021, in the Garden of Valor at Sunland Memorial, Sun City AZ. Viewing is at 9:00, Service at 10:00 and final resting at 11:00.
