A Celebration of Life for Felix will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday at Union Hills Country Club in Sun City, Arizona. Directly following the celebration, there will be a reception brunch. Arrangements are being made by Sunland Memorial Park located in Sun City, Arizona.
Felix was born in Chicago, Illinois on November 2nd, 1925. He graduated from Taft High School in Chicago, Illinois, and went on to serve as a submarine electrician in the United States Navy during WWII.
Felix married Arline Rohner in 1947 on the 18th day of January. Felix and Arline moved to southern Wisconsin after marriage, and Felix gained employment with the Wisconsin Power and Light Company, where he remained employed for 39 years, retiring as a district manager. During his tenure with WP&L, Felix and his family lived in Clinton, Spring Green, Dodgeville, and Portage, Wisconsin. After retirement in 1986, Felix and Arline moved to Arizona. Felix had many loves in life, but nothing meant more to him than his wife, Arline, of 66 years. They were together every day of their married life. Arline left this world on January 23rd, 2013, and now they are back in each other’s arms.
Felix was passionate over golf and entered the game as a caddie in Chicago Illinois. He caddied for some of the greats of the game – Gene Sarazen, Ben Hogan, and Patty Berg. He continued to play the game at a very high level, and after retirement, became a member of Union Hills Country Club in Sun City, AZ. His retirement years evolved around this beautiful facility.
Not only did Felix love his game of golf, he enjoyed fishing in northern Wisconsin with his family. Felix loved to travel and spent many days in the Caribbean with Arline – by far their most romantic getaway. His last love was unquestionably his great grandson, Kevin, whom he spent much time with in the last few years of his life.
He is survived by his brother Carl and wife Audrey Matarrese of Sun City, Arizona, children Mike and wife Sally from Springfield, Oregon, Susan from Colorado Springs, Colorado, Mark (and former wife Debbie) from Kasilof, Alaska, and Maria Del Carman Seppe from Asunción, Paraguay (a foreign exchange student whom he cared for like his own children). He had four grandchildren: Marissa from New York, Matthew from Arizona, Maia from Colorado, and Andy from Washington. Felix had one great grandchild, Kevin from Arizona.
The Matarrese family would like to pass on sincere thanks to the entire staff at Union Hills Country Club for making his later years of life so enjoyable. In lieu of flowers or gifts, please pass on your graciousness to the American Diabetes Association.
