Jerry was born May 25, 1938 in Los Angeles, California, the only child of Lauren A. and Margaret A. Weaver. He graduated from California High School in Whittier, California in 1956 and the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California in 1960. He received a Master of Fine Arts in Communications from the University of Mississippi in 1976. Jerry was a college professor and administrator with various universities around the country, including Mississippi University for Women in Columbus, Mississippi; the University of Alaska in Fairbanks, Alaska; and Mesa State College in Grand Junction, Colorado.
He was a member of President Ford’s Advisory Council on Women’s Educational Programs from 1975 to 1976. He was also a radio and television broadcaster in California, Mississippi, and Alaska during his career, interviewing many notable names from music, TV, film, and politics. He retired to Arizona in 1999.
Jerry is survived by his son, Robert Weaver, of Little Rock, Arkansas, and by his companion Connie Pitman of Sun City. A celebration of his life will be held at a future date.
