Born in Decatur, IN on June 18, 1923. He lived in Fort Wayne until 2004 when he moved permanently to Arizona.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret; son, Darrell (Kae) of Berne, IN; daughter, Judy (Todd) Fleming of Surprise, AZ; five grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by brothers: Arthur, Gerhard, Elmer, and Ervin, and sisters, LaVera Schroeder and Elda Schuller.
He served three years in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Gilbert retired from Fruehauf Trailer Company and Jensen Cabinet Company where he worked as a maintenance electrician.
Memorial service will be at Sunland Memorial Park, 15826 Del Webb Blvd. on Thursday, August 13, 2015 at 2:00 P.M.
