Ginette Mae Grosz

It is with great sadness that the family of Ginette Mae (Poulsen) Grosz announces her peaceful passing on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at Freedom Plaza in Peoria, Arizona, at the age of 90. Ginette was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Ginette was born on December 4, 1935, in Yankton, South Dakota to Peter and Etta (Millard) Poulsen. She had two sisters, Eleanor and LaVonne. Eleanor passed away at a young age, but Ginette remained in close contact with LaVonne until her passing in 2012.

She met her husband, Willard "Bill" Grosz at Yankton College. They were married on August 27th, 1958, in Yankton. Bill was a Captain in the U.S. Air Force, and she traveled with him as they started their family welcoming two sons, Steven while living in California and Michael, while living in Texas. After military life, the family made their home in South Dakota, then Iowa, before settling down in Crete, Nebraska where they raised their sons while working for Doane College (now University).

After their sons were grown, Bill and Ginette moved to Kansas City, Missouri where they became devoted Kansas City Chiefs fans and season ticket holders for many years. Ginette loved meeting people and worked as an Ambassador at the Kansas City International airport helping travelers find their way around the airport. They became devoted Grandparents, often visiting and hosting their sons’ families in their home for holiday gatherings. They had many close friends in Crete and Kansas City and enjoyed socializing, golfing, and playing Bridge. Ginette had an active cross-stitch hobby and created many pieces that will always be treasured.

Bill and Ginette finally realized their dream of retirement in Arizona and moved to Peoria, Arizona in 2008. They enjoyed 56 years together before Bill's passing in 2014. No matter where Ginette lived, she remained especially proud of her home state of South Dakota, which always held a special place in her heart. Even as her short-term memory faded later in life, she could still tell countless stories of her family and friends from the past. Ginette continued to be an avid crossword puzzle fan and completed them regularly until her last days.

Ginette was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Bill Grosz; her son, Steven Grosz; and her sisters Eleanor and LaVonne Poulson. She is survived by her son Michael Grosz (Gina Grosz), grandson Evan Grosz all of St. Louis, MO; and granddaughter Sarah (Grosz) Bartlett (Jay Bartlett), and great-grandsons Ace and Hank Bartlett all of Beatrice, NE.
