Joyce Carol Brehmer, age 84, of Gilbert, AZ passed away on Sunday, December 26, 2021. She is survived by her husband Fred; children Amy and Steve; daughter-in-law Jennifer; son-in-law Nate, and five grandchildren Jameson, Kaitlynn, Madison, Harper and Declan; and numerous other relatives and friends. Preceding her in death were her parents Frieda and August; and sister Dorothy.
Joyce was born and raised in Milwaukee, WI and it is here where she met Fred and the two married and started a family. She was a hard worker and dedicated to her strong faith and determination to provide her children with every opportunity in life. Her unselfish nature led her to be actively involved with the PTA, local churches and spend nights and weekends getting her children to various practices and competitions. In addition, Joyce had a love for dogs and rescued several of them throughout the years and provided them with a warm and loving home. As her children grew older, weekends were filled with day trips to colleges and her passion for WI sports teams grew.
As the years went by, Fred retired from the Internal Revenue Service and Joyce completed her career at the Milwaukee Medical Clinic. Their next adventure would take them to Sun City West, Arizona where they enjoyed the last 22 years of their 59 years together. During this time, Joyce continued to be focused on her family as she would now take day trips to Maricopa to spend time with her twin granddaughters, Kaitlynn and Madison. Road trips to Denver would also fill her time as she loved to take any opportunity to see Jameson, Harper and Declan. Travel continued to be enjoyable for Joyce as trips to San Diego, Las Vegas and Wisconsin created many memories for her and her family and friends.
Joyce lived her last few years battling Parkinson’s disease with amazing courage and strength. She lived everyday with positivity and determination not to let the disease keep her from enjoying her life and family. Everyone who knew Joyce saw her as a kind, loving and caring person guided by faith and family. She will be forever in our hearts and minds and will be greatly missed.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Michael J.Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, Humane Society or Shepherd of the Valley (Surprise, AZ).
