Judy was born in Parsons, KS on July 18, 1943 to Edwin J. Harris and Julia M Harris. She grew up in North Tarrytown, NY and graduated from Sleepy Hollow High School. She obtained her beautician’s license and worked as a hairdresser. She married John P. “Jack” Quinn in 1963. They were married for 16 years and lived in Wappingers Falls, where they raised their three children. While being a full-time mom, she also worked part time in the public schools. After the passing of her husband, she started a career as an administrative assistant at IBM. She was committed to and loved this work. She was successful and advanced rapidly. She was the administrative assistant to the site General Manager when she retired.
She met James “Jim” Howell while working at IBM. They married in Cold Spring in 1986. They shared the next 39 wonderful years together, until his passing last October. With her marriage to Jim, she became stepmother to three more children. They settled in Rhinebeck, NY and lived there full time until retirement, when they became snowbirds and spent winters in Sun City, AZ, close to Judy’s sister Janis and brother in law Donald. They eventually moved full time to Arizona. Mom loved to travel. She loved her dogs. She loved the Yankees. She loved Judge Judy. She loved Price is Right… But most of all she loved her family and friends. She loved getting together and “visiting”. Even in the last months, she was at her best, when someone was there for her to put on a “show”.
Judy is survived by three sons: John Quinn (Yeon) of Texas, Jeffrey Quinn (Maribel) of New York, and Joseph Quinn of New York. She is also survived by her three “bonus” children, Sonia Talman of Virginia, Dawn Hart (Brian) of North Carolina, and Eric Howell of New York. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Julia, Crystle (Chris), Louis (Stephanie), Allison, and Shane as well as her great-grandchildren: Celina, Mia, Sierra, Michael, Mason, and Margo, and many nieces and nephews. Judy is also remembered by her sister, Janis McLean of Ventana Lakes, Sun City.
