A compassionate and generous spirit, Katie will be missed by everyone who crossed her path. Her smile could light up any room, and she had a selfless approach to serving where she made everyone feel like their happiness and needs were the most important thing in her world.
Katie was born in Battle Creek, Michigan to parents Eugene and Janiece Wallace. As a young child she was very active in dance and acrobatics. She graduated from Battle Creek Pennfield High School in 1972. She was very active in cheerleading and several other social clubs in her four years in school.
It was in her freshman year of high school that she met her eventual husband Mike. Within a month of meeting , they were inseparable. They married in August 1972, shortly after her graduation. They spent 54 years together on an adventure that would take them across 5 states and more than 15 houses during that time.
Katie and Mike were blessed with their only child, son Josh, in 1982. They spent many wonderful years together during Josh’s childhood supporting his in various athletic pursuits and travels together. Katie considered her times with Josh as a child as the best time of her life.
Josh married his wonderful wife Jessica in 2005 and together they gave us three fantastic grand kids. Katie loved them with all her heart until the day she passed. She truly treasured her time with them and enjoyed them immensely. Nothing was too good for those kids.
Katie accepted Jesus as her savior in 1976 and was a very dedicated follower of our Lord. She loved to read and study God’s word and lead studies of the Bible while accumulating quite a large Bible reference library to support these activities. Before she became ill, she was very active in her church where she focused on loving, blessing and mentoring others in need. She was an unselfish, though often opinionate lover of God and other people. She also loved Christian fiction and she and her husband spent many hours reading these novels to each other until shortly before she passed away.
Katie is survived by her husband Mike, their son Josh, his wife Jessica, and their three kids, Caroline, Juliet, Miles and her beloved dog, Casey.
