Margaret Ann Smeets, age 79, went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at Orchard Pointe Terrazza in Peoria, AZ. Margaret was born on October 31, 1946, the daughter of Joseph and Alice (nee Bauer) Danzero. She grew up in Joliet, IL. In 2017, Margaret moved to Arizona to be closer to family. She was an active parishioner at Palmcroft Church in Phoenix, AZ, where she volunteered in the Clothing Closet and enjoyed fellowship in the Koinonia Sunday School class.
Margaret was a devoted mother, grandmother and friend. She enjoyed reading, playing cards, mahjong, and spending time with her family. She was fiercely loyal and protective of her family and friends. Margaret was known by many as “Crazy Grandma”.
Margaret is survived by her loving son, Stephen (Kristine) Simpson; grandson, Joseph; granddaughter, Margaret; and brother, Thomas (Phyllis) Danzero.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Alice Danzero; and father, Joseph Danzero.
A celebration of life service will be held Friday, December 19, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Sunland Memorial Park, Mortuary and Cremation Center, 15826 N. Del Webb Blvd., Sun City, AZ.
