Kreppel, Marilyn Ann Van Syckel, Dziadul – Born 3/20/25 to Albert Orrin and Catherine Frances Van Syckel in Brooklyn, N.Y. (the 4th of 12 children born to them). The family eventually moved to Wyckoff, N.J. Mom lost her mother to cancer in 1943, and also her dear brother, Roland, who died off Bougainville, in the Solomon Islands during World War II. She married Walter C. Dziadul in 1947 and had a daughter, Catherine, in 1949. Walter died at 46 years of age, and Mom married Herbert C. Kreppel, the love of her life, in 1971. They had 43 happy years together before he was taken from her by Parkinson’s disease in 2014. Over the years she had many interests and activities, including sewing, bowling, oil painting, and ceramics. She volunteered at Boswell Memorial Hospital in Sun City for a number of years, and was a member of the Daughters of the Nile and was also involved with the Elks Lodge in Sun City. Mom and Dad moved to Chandler, Arizona to be closer to family. She was a helluva woman with many talents who always looked for the good in people. She was on this earth for 91 years and enjoyed each one of them (though maybe not the last 2 since Dad was gone). In our house, it was “don’t sweat the small stuff” and “there will be NO pity parties tolerated”. She was predeceased by her parents, her first husband, and all of her siblings. She is survived by her loving daughter, Catherine (she said “the best thing she ever did”), and also by the “children of her heart”, Anita, Herb, Jr., and Maureen, 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. She loved her family, her friends, and her country, and don’t even think about trying to change the channel from Fox News and Bill O’Reilly!
We will miss you Mom, and keep you in our hearts. As Vera Lynn sang during World War II, “We’ll Meet Again!”
