Jack was preceded in death by his parents Jacob and Georgiena Burg, and his sister Ruth Bache Ernest.
He will be lovingly missed by Marguerite (Marg), his wife of 64 years; sons, Gary (Lexi) Burg and Martin (Debra) Burg; daughters Brenda (John) Omahen and Diane (Eddie) Contreras; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Jack and Marguerite moved to Sun City West in 1995 from Roslyn, PA, where he worked for many years with Insurance Company of North America. Jack was honored to serve in the Army during World War II, with active service on the staff of General MacArthur in the Philippines. He went on to serve his community through the Boy Scouts with sons Gary and Martin, through his church, and through his joyful commitment to many different musical groups. Jack was a member of the All Stars Stage Band, Sun City West Big Band, Sun City Concert Band, Sun City West Concert Band, Sun City Pops Band, Mellow Winds Clarinet Choir, and the choir of the Congregational Church of Sun City. Jack was also an avid golfer, having scored a “hole in one”, playing many of the courses in the area well into his nineties. He will surely be missed by his friends and family.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, January 3, 2019 at the Congregational Church of Sun City, 18401 N 99th Ave, Sun City, AZ 85373. Friends are welcome to meet with Jack’s family one hour prior to the service or during the time of fellowship afterwards.
