Max Dine MD, FACP, 76, of Glendale, AZ was born in Cambridge, MA to Sylvia and Felix Dine. Max graduated from Lawrence Academy, Tufts University and Tufts Medical School where he was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha honor medical society. He had a successful Oncology practice in California before retiring to Arizona. A brilliant doctor and lobbyist for mental health, he co-founded Visions of Hope and was a Hon Kachina recipient in 2005. Max improved the lives of many by raising awareness and helping to eradicate stigma for those suffering from mental illness by lobbying the State Legislature and passing the “2 little words” bill. The “2 little words” were “and mental” which were added to Arizona’s ADA law prohibiting discrimination in employment.
Max is survived by the love of his life, Sharon, daughter Lori (Craig), son Stephen (Michele), step-sons Paul (Karen), Lynn (Heather), sister Elaine (Mike), nephew Alex and grandchildren Kara and Matthew, Jonathan and of course Tami. We would like to thank his loving caregivers, Simona and the entire Todor family. Services will be held at Sunland Memorial Park and Mortuary, 15826 Del Webb Blvd in Sun City at 12:30 pm on Monday, June 6th. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to NAMI of Arizona (National Alliance on Mental Illness), namiaz.com, or the Mental Health Association of Arizona, mhaarizona.org.
