He was born in Cumuripa, Sonora, Mexico, on March 20, 1925, son of Pedro Flores Leyva and Vicenta Cuen de Flores. He is survived by his spouse, Encarnacion Beltran de Flores and his two daughters and four sons: Alicia Luviano, Maria de Jesus Romero, Pete, Gilbert, Javier, and Melecio R Flores. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Melecio, as was the case with most school-aged children during that time, did not attend school after the fourth grade to help out with family chores on the farm.
After his mandatory military duty he continued farming and eventually, in 1954 made a beautiful lady his bride, Maria Ruiz de Flores and he started their own family. Throughout the years farming became challenge, economically, so, in 1971 they moved their family to Phoenix, Arizona where he worked in construction and made a decent living while raising a family.
He was a fan of comedy and enjoyed telling a joke or two among friends and family. He was loved by many and will be missed by all who were part of his life.
Rest in pease Melecio Flores Cuen.
