

Robert Lee Renfroe, a beloved and faithful individual, passed away on September 2, 2025, at the age of 91. Born on February 26, 1934, to Olga Marie (Nielsen) and Robert John Renfroe, lived a life marked by dedication and affection.
He was born in Davis City, Iowa, but was only there for a few days, as his parents were on a train on their way to another town..his father was a minister and was taking over a new parish.
A few years later, his parents went to Liberia, South Africa, to become missionaries. There he was homeschooled, by his mother.
At the age of 16, the pilot for the missionaries, drank some bad water in the “back bush” and was dying. He told Robert, he would have to learn to fly so he could help continue on assisting the missionaries. He was given 2 hours of “touch & go’s. He handled this with no problems.
At age 18, the draft board sent his draft notice to the American Embassy and he was sent back to the states for his enlistment. Once he arrived, he went directly to the Air Force recruiters office and showed them his pilot’s license. After his induction, he was sent to Korea to help with the war going on there.
Later after his discharge, he moved to Palo Alto, CA. Purchased a sail boat and started sailing. During his working career he lived in Ireland, where he was in charge of building one of the largest manufacturing medical device facilities, at the time. He also resided in Hong Kong, Switzerland , UK and several other places, always holding Senior positions.
His love for sailing took him to many places, including the Greek Islands 17 times.
He was married to Carolyn Working, they had two boys, Gregory and Eric. Later, in 1983, he married Christina Barker, having the ceremony officiated by his father, Rev. Robert John Renfroe.
Robert, who, even at 91, had a remarkable memory. He was a great friend and mentor to many individuals and was always being called upon for his opinions.
He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
