Roy Allen Eagleson was born on August 8, 1931 in Douglass, Kansas and passed away on March 23, 2025 in Goodyear, Arizona. He has one surviving sister, Eva Bastin, 97, Wichita, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his parents Allen Thurman Eagleson and Myra Ann Eagleson and a brother Joseph Eagleson, sisters Marjorie Ferrel, and Dorothy Mills. Precious grandchildren who went on before were Ryan Daum, Justin Eagleson and Brianne Eagleson.
He is survived by his wife Lorene (Renee) Eagleson, daughters Denise Pearson, Jolene Clark and son Allen Eagleson, granddaughters Brittany Eagleson, Hannah Clark and Tess Pearson, grandsons Evan Genna (wife Sarita) and Nicholas Genna and great-grandsons Brighton Justin Eagleson and Jackson Roy Webster. Many nieces and nephews survive him.
Roy’s life began on a farm in Kansas and ended in the desert of Arizona.
After graduating from Leon High School in 1950, Roy joined the Army and served his country in the Korean War from 1951-1954. After his time in the military, he returned home, caring for his widowed father and youngest sister Dorothy. After his father passed and Dorothy married, he headed to California.
He was employed with ATT phone company for 30 years working in Los Angeles, Ventura, Ojai, and Chico, California and then retired in Paradise, California.
Roy met his wife Renee in Southern California and they married on April 14, 1962 and began family life. With a growing family and seeking new opportunities they continued to move further north in California over the years.
Roy had a green thumb and would plant a garden wherever he was living. He enjoyed fishing and at one time made his own fishing poles and lures. Fishing in river, lake or ocean….on foot or in a boat, he was all in. Roy reminisced that he had achieved doing all he wanted to do in this life…even more… like getting his private pilot’s license in June of 1964.
He built a house in Magalia, and his final project was refurbishing a home in Paradise completed in 2012…. this last house remained until the devastating Camp Fire of Paradise, Nov 8, 2018, that burned the family home to the ground.
After the fire, he and his wife relocated, arriving in Goodyear, Arizona with “all” their earthly possessions fitting in their 1995 Isuzu Rodeo along with beloved dog, Biscuit, a Yellow Lab.
Roy was a compassionate listener, accepted others’ opinions without commenting, always let others go first in meal line and held open the door for women. He was available to help whenever or whatever help was needed…. a generous, kind, private and gentle man.
Roy believed in God and Jesus as his Savior. He read the Bible seriously and many times read from Genesis to Revelation to get the whole picture. In his last days he continued reading. A marker in his Bible when he passed was Psalm 23 and Psalm 30:11 You have turned for me my mourning into dancing. You have put off my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness.
Memorial service at Sunland Memorial Park, Sun City Arizona, April 16, 2025 11:00am. A Graveside service will be held sometime in May 2025, at Paradise Cemetery, in Paradise, California.
