

He was born on February 26, 1929 in Chicago, Illinois to Isak and Elin(Anderson) Erickson who emigrated to the USA from Grava, Varmlands, Sweden in 1907 and lived in Cicero, Illinois for most of their lives.
He was the youngest of 3 brothers, Nels(deceased) and David(deceased).
Loving husband of Joan Veronica Lawlor whom he married in August 1952 in Brooklyn, NY. Joan passed away in June 2018. Loving father of four children: Susan and Roy of Sun City, AZ, Robert of Scottsdale, AZ, and Jane of Portland, OR.
Roy graduated from Pembine High School in Pembine, Wisconsin in June 1947. While he attended high school, he lived with his brother Nels and family on an 80-acre farm in nearby Dunbar, Wisconsin. He assisted as a dairyman and cultivated grain and potato crops with his brother and nephews.
Roy enlisted in the U.S. Navy in May 1948 and received training as an Aviation Electrician's Mate First Class. He was honorably discharged in April 1951 and re-enlisted for six additional years, being responsible for the electrical maintenance of P2V-5F aircraft for Patrol Squadron 8 and the supervision/instruction of eight other servicemen. He was honorably discharged in April 1957 with the rank of Chief Petty Officer.
After his military service, Roy was employed by United Airlines as a radio and electrical mechanic at airports in the New York City area until his retirement in 1992. He and his wife moved from Long Island, NY to Arizona in 1994. He enjoyed vacationing with his family in Alaska, carpentry, hunting and gunsmithing.
