After graduating from Melvindale HS in 1959 he served in the US Army in the 101st Airborne Infantry Division. He was most proud of his service to his country and his time as a paratrooper. He was a proud American veteran until his last days.
He raised his family in Rochester Hills, Michigan while working 34 years for General Motors ending his time as a General Foreman at the Hydramatic facility in Warren. Once he retired he chose to head for a better climate and moved southwest to the Phoenix area where he has spent the last 29 years of his life.
Russ was always no nonsense in his approach to life and believed in a common sense approach to lifes greatest challenges. Although often strong minded and set in his ways he would do his best to help those he cared for.
Russ is survived by his former spouse, Frances Robinson, his daughter Robin and her husband Jeff, his son Todd and his wife Shelly and five grandchildren Brice, Mitchell, Sierra, Savannah and Kennedi who he was affectionately known to as “Puppa.”
There will be no formal service but he will be laid to rest with his parents in a family plot in Rochester Hills, MI.
