

Selma Stoorman of Surprise Arizona, age 88, passed away surrounded by her children on Friday, December 10, 2021. Selma was born on April 15, 1933 to the late Nathan and Sara Metz, in Detroit Michigan. She graduated from Central High School in 1950, and in 1952 she married Herbert Stoorman, who preceded her in death in 2006. In 1976, she graduated from Oakland University in Rochester Michigan, with a degree in music education. She taught high school music in the Allen Park School District and also performed in community theatre groups, as well as musicals and operas in the Detroit area. In 1983, Selma and Herb moved to Phoenix Arizona. Selma taught music in the Deer Valley School District, and continued to perform in community theatre, as well as solo concerts to the delight of the community. She is survived by her children, Karen Roberts (the late Don), Samuel Stoorman (Patricia Wassik), Sherwin Stoorman (Muriel); grandchildren, Shira Good (William), Lisa Nicole-Roberts Wilson (Henry), Sabrina Stoorman, William Stoorman; and great-grandchildren, Sophia Good, Eloise Good, Theodore Good, and Isla Lee Wilson.
A graveside service for Selma will be held Monday, December 13, 2021 at 10:30 AM at Sunland Memorial Park, Mortuary & Cremation Center, 15826 Del Webb Blvd, Sun City, Arizona 85351.
