Tom was born on October 6, 1947 in Glens Falls, New York to Jesse and Elizabeth (Cleveland) Hayes. After high school, he enlisted in the US Army on December 9, 1966 and was honorably discharged after three years of dedicated service.
Tom met his loving wife Cathy in Seoul, Korea and the two were married there on August 10, 1968. Tom worked hard and was highly respected in his field. He was an electrical engineer by trade with Bechtel Corporation for over 30 years which resulted in him and his family residing in many different states throughout his career. The family has said that if you were to ask Tom today there were some of the power plants that he would tell you “jokingly” he built single handedly. An avid Family man as well, Tom was deeply loved and cherished by all of his children. As the years went by his family grew and Tom was able to live his life with his adoring grandchildren by his side and spent time with them when he could. Tom loved to be outdoors with his friends and family. A natural outdoorsman he loved fishing and hunting. His true passion was golf and his top bucket list item was to attend the Masters Golf tournament which he was able to do this past April.
A loving husband, dedicated worker, wonderful family man and a respected citizen of this community, Tom lead a life that any one of us could look up to and admire. Tom will always be remembered as a man that helped build America through his trade and temperament and a man who helped raise a truly wonderful family along with his adoring wife Cathy.
