Vera Spahr Jones

.Vera Spahr Jones of Peoria, Arizona passed away peacefully on February 15, 2015 at the La Loma Care Center in Litchfield Park, Arizona. She was born on May 12, 1927 in Bern, Indiana to Noah and Amanda Steury. Vera is preceded in death by her first husband of 32 years, John D. Spahr and her second husband of 19 years, Col Thomas Jones.

She is survived by one brother, Norman Steury of Green Acres, Florida and one sister Anna Marie Webb of Warsaw, Indiana. She is also survived by daughter Lynn and husband Stephen Pahs of West Lafayette, Indiana; son John and wife Anita Spahr of Glendale, Arizona; daughter Terry and husband Dave O’Donnell of West Suffield, Connecticut; and two stepdaughters Kathy and husband Joel Sturtz of Scottsdale, Arizona and Linda Walmsley of Gainsville, Virginia. She has eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

Vera was a long time resident of West Lafayette, Indiana before moving to Sun City, Arizona. Vera loved her family, her church, and the P.E.O. philanthropic organization she belonged to. She will be deeply missed and forever loved.

A memorial service for Vera will be at 11:00 am Friday, February 20, 2015 at the First United Methodist Church of Sun City, 9849 North 105th Avenue, Sun City, Arizona. Interment will be in Tippecanoe Memorial Gardens, West Lafayette, Indiana. Contributions in her memory can be made to the First United Methodist Church of Sun City.
