Vern Louis Powell, 94, of Sun City, Arizona passed away peacefully, in the comfort of his home, surrounded by family on June 13, 2021. Vern was born in Ravenna, Nebraska on August 10, 1926 to Louis and Ella Powell, and had a younger brother named Bill. Vern worked for over 40 years with the U.S Department of the Interior and retired as Chief of Surveys for the Bureau of Reclamation. His early career took him and his family to Colorado for 10 years and then in 1968 to Arizona, where he and his beloved wife Mary Ann lived their remaining years. Vern was a devout Christian who loved the outdoors. He loved to hunt and fish and being out on the golf course. Most of all, Vern was a devoted family man, and loved spending as much time as possible with his beautiful wife, 3 sons, 3 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson.
Vern was preceded in death by his parents, brother Bill and his wife of 62 years Mary Ann. He is survived by his sons Jeff, Robert and Dave. A Celebration of Life is being planned for a future date. To send condolences to the family please visit www.SunlandMemorial.com.
